Today is an in-between day, just did the stretching, HBOT, supplements. I decided to order Dominos Pizza for dinner, which is a very high calorie mess of taste and goodness. The slices are about 350 calories each, and I can normally eat 3 pieces in a sitting plus an extra two before bed. But steeling myself to maintain discipline I only had two. This was satisfying enough. For the day I was actually under 2000 calories (vs. my 2400 max). I won’t do this very often, since my steel will sometimes turn to candy glass…
This is an old topic with apparently new information. A study from a long time ago said that drinking beer, wine, whiskey or any kind of alcohol kills brain cells. Since this was really not a deterrent, it was quickly turned into a national joke, as in “honey, I’m going to go kill some brain cells” as one headed off to the local bar.
Thereafter, there were a lot of rumors that this was mere myth, that perhaps excessive drinking affected the brain but it did not actually kill brain cells on an ongoing basis. Now full circle. The latest study from the UK says that even moderate drinkers are losing brain cells from alcohol. In fact, alcohol explained up to a 0.8% change in “grey matter” volume (the important part of your brain), and that this was more than could be attributed to smoking or body mass index.

Is 0.8% a lot of brain volume? I don’t know.
But consider the relationships in size here with respect to your brain. The difference between sober and intoxicated is less than a tenth of a percent, with possible death at three tenths. Less than a milligram of LSD (so small you can barely see it, can substantially alter your brain. And of course, the difference in DNA between a human and a monkey is only 1.2%. Small changes can be hugely impactful to your life. Especially when it pertains to your brain.
I don’t really drink, but I make no moral judgments. Drink if you want, whatever gets you happy or laid. Just know the facts.
