Rob Lowe is amazingly fit for 61, looking like he has not aged much since his thirties! Despite what you may think, the virile actor does not have a magical portrait in his attic. But he did recently sit down with Al Roker to share his antiaging secrets.
Roker started the interview by saying, “There’s only nine years between us and he looks so much better…” After a few witty quips about serums and a traveling facelift doctor on staff, Lowe got serious.
“I’ve been sober 35 years this week,” he revealed, “and you know, just that alone. The cumulative alcohol. Even if you don’t have a problem with it, that’s part of it.”
The seemingly ageless celebrity also revealed that sleep is his secret weapon against aging. “I get a lot of sleep,” he said. “People used to make fun of how much I slept. Now the science is turning around, and people are bragging about their sleep.”
Roker’s cohost Craig Melvin asked Lowe just how much sleep he’s getting. “I could throw down 12 [hours] on you, if allowed to.”
“12 hours?” Melvin asked. “If I could,” Lowe responded. “But I’m a solid 9.5 [hours].”
Fans generally supported Lowe’s tips in the comments on Instagram, but one noted that the star is starting to show signs of aging, writing, “He does look great, but he is starting to look older.”
“And he hasn’t lost his hair!” another observed.
“Today is one month away from alcohol and I am sleeping so damn good now. My skin is glowing 👏,” another added.
Other Celebrity Antiaging and Longevity Secrets
Lowe is not the only celebrity to share his or her antiaging secrets; here are some others.
Jennifer Lopez
J.Lo recently told US Magazine, “My mom and aunts swear by olive oil to deliver a glow.” In fact, the hero ingredient in JLo Beauty is a combination of ingredients derived from extra-virgin olive oil, fermented oil, leaf extract, and squalane. “It gives the skin this weightless, all-day hydration, antioxidant protection, and an ageless radiance. And it doesn’t smell like salad dressing,” she added with a laugh.
Kelly Ripa
At 54, Kelly still looks stunning. Her secret? “I feel like dancing keeps your mind and body young,” Ripa, whose workouts are mostly dance-based, previously told InStyle. “I have to remind myself that I’m not 23 because I still feel like I am,” she adds.
David Beckham
The soccer star agrees with Low about sleep. He says he owes his looks to “post-match naps” and his wife’s Dr. Lancer products, particularly the sunscreen.”
Jared Leto
In his mid-fifties but looking much younger, Jared Leto shares Lowe’s views on sobriety. For more than two decades, Leto has chosen to abstain from alcohol and cigarettes, a choice that carries profound implications for his physical health and overall well-being. Leto also practices yoga, which not only enhances flexibility and strength, but cultivates mindfulness and emotional equilibrium. This mental aspect is essential for longevity, as it nurtures inner calm and resilience.
