Bill Gates told Politico he has a better way to fight Covid.
Bill Gates is an ass.
Bill Gates’ pronouncement is an example of ego-driven, snobbish 20/20 hindsight. He has no clue how to fight Covid, he is just looking at what has happened, and making judgments on what hasn’t worked.
Just like the rest of us have.
At least when I wrote my versions of this, I admitted it was lessons learned, not “I told you so.”
“We’ll never get to 70 percent. Who is kidding who? We live in a world where you have countries that spend $12,000 per person per year on medicine and countries that spend $200 per person per year,” Gates said. “If you’re playing the $200-per-person game, you can only do things that have huge impact.”
Ok, that is what we call a nothing burger. Great observation of past data, absolutely no practical application.
“It’s up to the countries. What does Ethiopia want? What does Nigeria want? If there’s Covid vaccination that goes on, the real benefit is where you can get any decent dollars per year of life saved,” Gates said. “That’s going after people who are old, or have other conditions that make them seriously at risk of this thing.”
Thanks, Bill. We kind of realized that after the pandemic was underway and we had some statistics on who was most affected. If you knew that old folks were the greatest risk before that data was collected, you seemed to have forgotten to tell us.
“strengthening health systems in poorer countries is key to improving distribution in the next pandemic.”
Really?????? No joke???? So let’s spend about $50 Trillion to upgrade the whole world’s health systems (which unfortunately will degrade when there are no funds to maintain it. Happens EVERY time…).
“When you want to get 95 percent coverage … vaccine hesitancy would probably create an upper bound way below that,” Gates said.
Hmmm. Sorry, nice comment on “vaccine hesitancy” now that we have experienced it. Bill, don’t pretend you knew how it would play out worldwide before it happened.
“In 2015, lots of people talked about what it would take to stop a pandemic. The formula hasn’t changed,” Gates said. “We need to fund global surveillance to see the next pathogen early. We need to fund the R&D for better diagnostics therapeutics.”
OK Bill, can you say anything that isn’t motherhood and apple pie? Oh yes, and “global surveillance”? Typical megalomaniac, let’s give all of our medical records to Bill, and of course, get that mandatory health check every week with Bill’s doctors.
“In the future, we don’t want to use a needle. It may turn out that you take your first dose as a micro-patch and your second dose as an inhalation because to get infection blocking you actually want secretory antibodies in the nose. And we’ve never been good at that,” he said.
This is the scariest part. Bill, is your goal just to gas bomb neighborhoods with inhalation vaccines? Get around those pesky freedom of choice parameters of the Constitution of the United States?
Strike two on that megalomania, better get that checked.
