NMN: The Future of Anti-aging and Longevity

Each day there seems to be more and more evidence of the antiaging properties of NMN.

As discovered by David Sinclair, Ph.D., NMN or Nicotinamide Mononucleotide is the precursor to NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide), NAD is found in nearly all our living cells. NAD is essential for sustaining life.

NMN is a form of vitamin B3 that occurs naturally in all living things. It’s a precursor to NAD), which is one of the most abundant and crucial coenzymes in your cells. NMN becomes NAD through a series of chemical processes, and NAD helps your cells function properly. NAD levels decrease with age, and research indicates that human beings lose about half by middle age.

Studies have found several ways that NMN supplementation can improve longevity, such as:

  • NMN boosts the energy supply in aging cells.
  • NMN helps in fighting metabolic diseases.
  • NMN enhances red blood cell production and improves blood flow.

One of the latest studies published on the antiaging properties of NMN/NAD said, “The mitochondrial decay, which is responsible for aging, can be reversed by the increased levels of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in the body.”

The study, published in the Journal of Advanced Research, also said that “NMN administration could enhance NAD+ levels (from 500 to 1550 pmol/mg-tissue), insulin secretion, insulin sensitivity, and lipid profile in age-induced type 2 diabetic mice. NMN administration can also restore gene expression linked to circadian rhythm, inflammatory response, and oxidative stress, and improve hepatic insulin sensitivity.”

It’s important to note that NAD research is still new: The first human clinical trial of NMN happened less than ten years ago. However, if you’re wondering how, specifically, NAD may increase lifespan, science tells us a few things.

First, evidence suggests that NAD may help the body repair neuronal stress or stress that occurs in the brain’s neurons in animal test subjects. This indicates that NMN may protect the brain against memory loss. Scientific research also suggests that NAD may increase endurance, strengthen muscles, and lengthen lifespans by improving mitochondrial functions.

As good as NMN is for you, it is found in very few foods, and even those foods that do have it, such as broccoli, edamame, and cabbage, it is only there in trace amounts.

If you want to get NMN’s powerful antiaging and longevity-boosting benefits, the only real way to do so is with daily supplementation. Anyone committed to an “antiaging lifestyle” should add an NMN supplement to their health and fitness routine.

NMN enhances all of the benefits you get from working out and eating right.
